VINCE MAI nominated this year for Wind Instrumentalist of the Year by the Canadian Smooth Jazz Awards 2009!

A dynamic soloist and well known member of various Canadian jazz and funk groups, Vince is also a top call studio musician in the Pacific Northwest. He explores contemporary smooth-groove jazz from a world perspective, inspired by his travels and performances throughout Europe, Asia, and the Americas. 

As a jazz artist, Vince has had the privilege of sharing stages and studios with top artists in Canada, the United States, and Europe including Tom Jones, David Foster, Sarah McLachlan, The Temptations, Long John Baldry, Maestro Fresh Wes, Chuck Israels, Bobby Shew, Steve Turre, Natalie Cole, Don Thompson, 
Eddie Daniels, Ernan Lopez Nussa, Danilo Perez, Robben Ford, and Daniel Binelli (Astor Piazzolla).

As a composer, Vince's film scores have been featured on TV networks - PBS, Fox Network, WTN and the CBC in North America. For nearly 2 decades, Vince has been actively writing and producing commercial spots, TV themes and stings for clients including - Electronic Arts, McDonalds, KVOS TV, WIC TV, 
Global TV, Honda, Mattel, Ford, A&B Sound, ITV, Telus, and many others. 

As a studio musician, Vince's trumpet has been featured on numerous albums, commercials, feature films and TV series including DaVinci's Inquest, Ed, Edd & Eddy Show, The Chris Isaak Show, McGyver, Lonesome Dove, and Scene of the Crime. 

Vince's latest CD entitled "STRETCHY" is scheduled for release on April 28 and the concert at Frederic Wood Theatre will also be the official CD launch party.

Special Guests

DARYL JAHNKE
Guitar

This guitarist and composer's influences and inspirations cross borders and traverse eclectic, compelling musical terrain. Daryl has recorded with a diverse array of musicians, including the Juno Award winning Andean group Ancient Cultures, Cuba's Jorge Chicoy of Irakere and the Chinese master musicians of Silk Road. Daryl has worked with great musicians like Dan Brubeck, Jorge Chicoy, Paul Jackson, Kenny Werner, John Stowell, Terumasa Hino and Jeff Berlin. Daryl's flowing, confident, harmonically rich style can be heard on numerous CD releases including those from his own groups.


BRENT GUBBELS
Acoustic & Electric Bass

A Vancouver based professional musician and teacher for nearly twenty years. Brent has worked with a number of local musicians and ensembles including the Hard Rubber Orchestra, Gypsalero, Rumba Calzada, John Reischman, the Vince Mai Project, Jesse Zubot, Dal Richards, Lee Aaron and Dee Daniels. Since 1992, he has toured North America and Europe extensively and played a variety of international jazz and folk festivals. Brent can be heard on recordings by Oscar Lopez, Gypsalero, Juno nominees Susan Crowe and Compadres, Juno winner James Keelaghan, and others.


LOUIS MASTROIANNI 
Piano

An active freelance musician based in the Greater Vancouver area for the past twenty-five years, Louis is a pianist, arranger and composer who has performed and/or recorded with a variety of artists including the Cuban folkloric group Los Muniequitos de Matanzas; Grammy Award winners Poncho Sanchez and Arturo Sandoval; Juno nominees jazz vocalist Karin Plato and Rumba Calzada; Westcoast Music Award nominees Latin jazz groups Orquesta Goma Dura (The Hard Rubber Orchestra), Shango Ashe and flamenco based Alma Libre; Latin jazz ensemble Grupo Jazz Tumbao and Cuban influenced timba group Xarabanda. 


RANDALL STOLL
Drums

Randall Stoll is a top studio call drummer who has performed and recorded with KD Lang, Tom Cochrane, Shania Twain and many others. He has performed live on David Letterman, Jay Leno, MTV music awards, Oprah, and the Junos. His album credits total over 100 CD's many of which have gone platinum and gold. He's also leader of the local supergroup Soulstream that just concluded a 12 year run at Bar None/Republic nightclubs.


MYLES BIGELOW
Percussion

From Boston to Cuba, New York to Vancouver, this riddim-keeper has moved effortlessly from the sidelines into the production chair honing the skills needed to work his magic on both skins and bass bins. He has toured andlor recorded with such acts as Orlando "Maraca" Valle (Grammy Nominee), K-OS (multi Juno winner), Alexis Puentes (multi Juno winner), and Alpha Yaya Diallo (multi Juno winner).
